Benjamin Button-ing Myself

I was curious to see what’s possible with all the SOTA Flux stuff out there. And my conclusion is that … it’s getting weirder and weirder these days.

This isn’t me in the future. I’m glad, tho, to see that Apple’s still around ;-).

Watch this time-lapse video

It feels weird looking at myself age like this — if anything it’s helping me think of my springs a bit differently.

How to do it yourself

I used Capsule to make the cool intros/outros. The images were created using fal.ai Flux Lora Portrait Trainer.

  1. Grab a bunch of images of yourself, and then use Birme to crop/square all of them. It’s really easy to use. Surprisingly.
  2. Then, go to the Flux Lora Portrait Trainer and put all the square images into the file upload tray.
  3. Be sure to give the model a weird name that won’t conflict with any other symbol out there. I used for myself, “jmawkerd.”
  4. Go ahead and tune the model. Wait maybe about 10 or 15 minutes. And then you can run the tuned model.
  5. You can now use your symbol in a sentence like, “jmawkwerd in his late 20s working on a laptop in a coffee shop.”

That’s all?

Yeah. That’s the really odd thing. It was a little too easy.

Note that I also tried using Replicate’s fofr consistent character model which is a one-shot approach to making different variations of an image. It’s pretty good in some cases … but I think my head size isn’t the right average headsize for that approach.
